Child Safety for window coverings has come a long way. In the past, when you had horizontal blinds, which could be mini blinds, wood blinds or other options, there was a pull cord. This cord would get longer when you raised the blinds to the top of the window.

Child Safety for Blinds and Shades

Because of child safety concerns, many forward thinking companies began finding solutions to this potentially deadly problem. Today, you have many options, for example:

  • Ultra Glide- Retractable
  • LiteRise- Cordless Operation
  • SimpleLift- Push Button Cordless

These operating systems are a great way to get away from the dangers of dangling cords. About 1 child per month is strangled in the United States due to window covering cords. Because child safety has been a priority for Kempler Design, we established our policy in January 2014. It stated that we would not sell corded products when viable options were available. We have a responsible view of the products we sell and we’d like to help you make good choices.
