Good drape design involves more than the obvious. Anyone can pick the right color for a room, but did you consider some of the other things that will happen as a result of your choice? Watch the video to see what happens when a bold color is chosen for the drapes.

For this client, they are happy with the choice, but if you had selected this fabric, would your designer have mentioned to you what the light filtering through would do to the color of your room? As you can see, the whole room takes on the color of the fabric the light filters through. Are there ways to avoid this? Absolutely. When Kempler Design does its consultations, we go over just about every detail imaginable. This will help you to avoid design mistakes. Many of our clients are surprised that our average consultation time is three hours. Yes, that’s correct. Three hours. If the fabric were lined in blackout lining, you’d still have the color, but the hue of the room would remain unchanged. The down side of the matter is that with blackout lining, the room will be dark if the window is covered, so…

You will agree that there is more to your choice in draperies than just what color or pattern to pick. A good consultation is critical. In the meantime, if you see me around town, call me Smurf.
