What is a lambrequin? It’s not a lamby toy. It’s not an accessory for your Lamborghini. It’s not a romance novel for your barnyard animal. It’s a window treatment! At least, it used to be. They aren’t done much anymore, but they have a long history in the world of window coverings.

In the attached video you can see a few lambrequins that a client got when she bought her home. Originally, she wanted me to just replace the fabric to coordinate better with her furnishings. After a little consultation, we decided that a better solution would be to design new window treatments for her.

Good design involves a little bit of persuasion. Most people are influenced by what they already have. Change can be hard or even scary. Think about that friend of yours who won’t leave a bad spouse because change is scary. Yeah, it affects many areas of life. In window treatments, a good designer can help the client to visualize the new look. You should also be able to “feel” the changes. There is an emotional component to good design in your home.

Here are some before and after pictures. Notice how the window treatments compliment their rooms so much better. The client is overjoyed with the final results.
