The Hunter Douglas Silhouette DuoLite feature is now available. This allows for better room darkening. One of the beautiful things about the Silhouette DuoLite Shade is the way the light filters through the designer fabrics. This allows slubs and crosshatches and other design features of the Silhouette fabrics to be accentuated when the shade is in the down and closed position.

But, due to the light translucence of the fabric, it often wasn’t a good choice for room darkening situations, like bedrooms or media rooms. With the introduction of the Silhouette DuoLite , there is now a lower cost option to consider when doing window coverings for your home in the Reno or Lake Tahoe area.

The reason that the headrail is only 4″ tall is because the operation of the shade is limited to the following order.

  1. Lower Silhouette Shade to lowest position with the vanes open.
  2. Lower Room Darkening DuoLite roller shade to the bottom.

You may stop the process anywhere along the line. If you want the Silhouette shade in the fully down, but not tipped open position, simply stop the process anywhere along the line. As long as you perform the act of stopping the mechanisms at the desired location, you can have any look you want. The shade can not act outside of these parameters like the Hunter Douglas Silhouette “A Deux” can. The new offering from Hunter Douglas will fit a lot of needs for combined window coverings in the Reno area, but it is not a panacea. There will be applications that will not be able to be performed. When you consult with your window fashions expert, they will be able to point out the pros and cons of each window covering you consider for your Reno or Tahoe home.
