The Hunter Douglas Silhouette shades have been on the market for quite a while, but some changes make them more useful. In particular, I really like the DuoLite feature that was introduced recently. The Hunter Douglas Silhouette fabric looks best when the light can filter gently through the material. It shows off the beauty of the weaves and textures in the material.

The problem is that when someone wanted room darkening with their Hunter Douglas Silhouette shade they had to add an additional layer. Of course, they also could have gone with the Bon Soir fabric, but then you lose the quality of the fabric, because the vanes become opaque.

Hunter Douglas has been working on layered treatments for a while. The original Hunter Douglas Silhouette with two layers in one is called A Deux. This is exactly the same concept as the DuoLite operating system, but with a couple of differences.

The A Deux is completely independent in its operation. As a result, it requires a larger headrail and two completely different operating systems. So, for example, if you wanted them motorized, like with the PowerView system shown in the video, you would be buying two motors.

In contrast, the Hunter Douglas Silhouette shades with DuoLite use only one PowerView motor, but they are not independent in their operation. Please watch the video to see how the function. The sheer shade lowers, then it opens, then the opaque layer lowers. It then works in reverse doing the exact same things.

The Hunter Douglas Silhouette with DuoLite is a great way to get a fantastic sheer shading with the ability to control the light.
