“These draperies are perfect. They finish off the room perfectly.” When drapery window treatments are well chosen, these sentiments are often expressed. Yes, draperies are truly a finishing touch. In this case, the homeowners knew that they wanted a top-treatment, but they were worried about losing ANY of their light or view. Originally, we were planning on placing a valance over the top of the window, but after careful consultation, we determined that side panels and a stunning drapery rod would better frame the view. The client was concerned that she would be bothered visually by the fact that she would still see the existing cellular shades. I suggested to her that the bold shape and color of the drapery rod would distract the eye from the shades. When we installed the window treatment, the customer volunteered that the shades seemed to disappear from her view. In fact, she said, “You were right, I really don’t see the shades at all”. All in all, the clients are very happy with the end result and I’m thrilled to have been able to help them design a perfect treatment for their home.

The drapery rods were sourced from Orion Drapery Hardware, using the Iron Art by Orion line. Their rods are hand built and hand finished. When you watch the video, notice how the rings are perfectly spaced and perfectly vertical. This is only possible because we specified that the rings be welded into place at the factory. Otherwise, the rings would have been sliding all over the place due to the irregularities of the surface of the rod. Every choice has to be well thought out to make for a perfect treatment. I actually learned something on this job too. I had forgotten how flexible this rod is, and I tried to install it using only 3 brackets. The rod sagged badly. I had to rush 2 more brackets to Reno to finish the installation. It added a couple of days, but the rod is perfect now. I wish to thank the clients for their patience.
