Batteries on PowerView motorized window coverings tend to last anywhere from 6 months to 5 years, depending on the type of shade, type of battery and the size of the window blind. At some point, you will have to change the batteries. With Hunter Douglas and their new PowerView motorized window treatments, most of the battery wands take AA batteries. They also have the option of using C batteries for a longer life. If you need to change the batteries, you need to know where to look. The older generation shades had the batteries inside the headrail, but the majority of current window coverings have the batteries attached to the back of the headrail. There is a small plug in cord from the motor to the battery pack. So, you will need to remove the battery pack from its holder on the headrail, unplug the cord, pinch off the endcap of battery tube and replace the batteries. Currently, the standard system uses 12 AA batteries, and Hunter Douglas motorization training suggests using Energizer batteries. Inspect the tube and existing batteries for corrosion and replace with new batteries.
