Why Get a Wand For Window Coverings?

Cordless Shades and Blinds are all the rage, but what if you can’t reach the window top? This is why they make a wand for window coverings. You may have a window that is very tall, like in the video or you may be “vertically challenged”. Either way, you need help operating your shades or blinds if you can’t reach them.

Most companies are now offering a wand for window coverings as part of their product lines. They aren’t all the same. The one we are showing in this video is from Norman Window Fashions. Truthfully, it is a very good accessory for working the cordless shades. I’m not a huge fan of the small  plastic “handle” that is attached to the rail of the shade, but this wand integrates with it perfectly. Also, the wand tip has the ability to rotate which is hugely beneficial.

Kempler Design’s View of Wands

Ok, this part of the blog is about my personal opinion of wands. I’ve been helping our clients to design and install their window coverings in the Reno and Lake Tahoe areas for over 25 years. And in that time, I’ve only sold 3 or 4 wands. That’s it, no more. How does that make sense? We only suggest wands for window coverings when it is absolutely needed. Most of the hard to reach windows we design are done with Motorization or automation. But on occasions, the wand is a better solution.

What is the takeaway from this? If you deal with a true professional, they are going to assist you in getting your needs met in the best way. We could discuss this for quite a while, but in reality, your needs are so specific to you that it makes sense to contact us to schedule an appointment to discuss those needs. Thanks for taking the time to get a few nuggets of information.
