Warranties From Good Window Covering Fabricators

People often have questions about how window covering warranties work. The manufacturers typically make sure that they stand behind the quality of their products. It is important to understand how this actually works though. In the video that you can watch here, we replace Hunter Douglas Applause shades after 28 years. This is due to the solidity of the Hunter Douglas Warranty.

Hunter Douglas Warranty Details of Coverage

Hunter Douglas Warranty

We are going to break down the Hunter Douglas Warranty by examining the photo that we have attached.

As you can see, the Warranty is designed to cover the structure of the product. It completely covers manual mechanisms. This is awesome. Almost all products have limits as to their durability, but Hunter Douglas says that they are designed to last as long as you own your window treatments. They also cover your components and brackets. The brackets are a great thing to have covered. In the past, they used to use plastic brackets for a lot of their window coverings, and it was common for them to crack. So, having a good warranty is very helpful.

Fabric delaminating is covered too. This is what you saw in the video. Where the fabric breaks down for whatever reason. Please understand that if your cat tears it up, it is not covered. :) Also covered is cord breakage. But this has limits. 7 years is the limit, but that’s a great coverage as well. If it needs to be fixed after 7 years, then it can be done, but there will be a small fee.

It is great to understand the Hunter Douglas warranty on their motorization. This is kind of an overall take on motors because they are part of the tech world. Here is the way it works. They cover these products for 5 years. Why? Because the technology is constantly changing and improving. Therefore, they don’t continue to build the older versions. So, they only officially cover the the motors for 5 years. But in reality, they are reasonable about helping people out who have their motors for longer periods of time.

What is NOT Covered?

Notice that the picture states that “Normal Wear and Tear” are not covered by the Hunter Douglas Warranty. This can apply to a lot of things, like cords that break down. Eventually, they get worn out. This expression is a key. “Worn Out”. If these words apply to your product, then it probably would not be covered. But, maybe it is. It is worth looking into. Abuse is not covered either. Like I mentioned earlier, if your animal, child or someone else damages your shades, it will not be covered.

Please look at the picture above to see other factors that are not covered. Honestly, it can seem confusing, but if you work with a good professional they can help you work through these details.

Other Companies Warranties

The principles that we highlighted in this blog are very consistent for most window covering manufacturers. I can’t discuss every fabricator in this blog, so you should read the warranty information that they provide. My suggestion is to purchase your window coverings from the top manufacturers, because they stand behind the products that they build.
