VertiGlide Products NOT for Doors?

Here is a video of a Hunter Douglas VertiGlide (Vertiglide Valance) for a regular window. Typically, we do vertiglides for patio or sliding doors, but there are other applications for this dynamic product.

I wanted you to see a couple of things. First, you have to see how the gaps look because they are different from how the gaps appear on standard bottom up shadings. Second, I wanted to show you how the returns look.

VertiGlide Valance Returns

Let’s focus on the returns for the valance. Take a look at the thumbnail for the video. You will notice that the valance is mitered in the corner, and then goes back to the wall. With the Hunter Douglas product, this is the minimum return depth length. For this job, it was perfect, because we had an obstruction inside the window where the security system was set up.

The other option is to remove the returns completely and straight cut the valance to fit inside the opening. In order to do this, you have to know exactly how much depth the window has in relation to the pleat size you select. Otherwise your headrail will project into the room and you may not like how it looks.

As with all of our consultations, the products are selected by the client with our guidance. We help each client to know the pros and cons of the products they are selecting. For example, with this client, we suggested a top/down bottom/up motorized shade, but after discussing the various options they decided on the VertiGlide option.
