French Doors are Different from Sliding Doors

French Doors are Different from Sliding Doors

When selecting your window treatments for your house in Reno, Sparks or Lake Tahoe, you need to communicate with your window fashions expert. Here is an experience that shows how important it is. Last week I was working with a client who was selecting blinds or shades for a rental unit. She was focused on the function of the product. In this case, she wanted to make sure that we knocked down as much heat gain as possible from the home. She was one of those clients who likes to control the conversation. I was doing my best to do my job while following her lead. We finally settled on to shadings, which would provide the shading and sun blocking she wanted at the pricing she had budgeted. Then came the bombshell, AFTER we had basically finished. The window company showed up to measure for the NEW DOOR. The homeowner had neglected to tell me that she was changing the slider door to a french door style. Well, that COMPLETELY changed the layout for our window. So, the lesson you should take away from this tale is to let your window covering specialist know all the details that will affect the treatments that he is doing. Can you imagine what would have happened had we ordered the shades, only to find that the configuration of the window itself had changed?
