Many of our clients are choosing upgraded controls for their window coverings. This post will focus on the PowerView by Hunter Douglas for horizontal blinds. However, when you are putting non-traditional controls on a window treatment it is important that you explain how they are used to guests and house mates. The PowerView tilt-only motorized controls use a different part of the remote control than shades typically do. Whereas people are used to using the up and down arrows on the remote control, a horizontal blind like these EverWood composite blinds, uses the rotate buttons on the left and right of the stop button at the center. Due to the weight of the slats of the blinds, Hunter Douglas does not offer a lift option for motorization in any of their horizontal blinds. There are other companies that offer lift choices for horizontal blinds if that is your need.

Another point that is important to recognize is that the Hunter Douglas PowerView remote has a favorite position button on it. It is the “heart” button at the 4 o’clock position on the circular dial. With simple programming, we can set the position that you are most likely to use. The attached video shows all of this in action. If you have house guests, please forward this blog post or the YouTube video to them so that they feel comfortable in your house.
