I shot this video back in 2009 and I’m reposting it because this particular window covering has given us some problems. Let me itemize why it’s been a problem.

  • Weight- This panel track system has bamboo material plus blackout lining and the width of the panels is fairly wide, so each panel is quite heavy.
  • Use- The window covering is in a rental situation, so the users tend to be rougher than a homeowner would be.
  • Lightweight Hardware- Based on the above, the hardware is not durable enough for what they go through on a daily basis.

Now, I’ve installed many of these over the years and this is the only one that I’ve had issues with, so I have confidence in the product. However, I now use it as a caveat when consulting with people as to how to use this shading system. Make sure that you know all the facts when choosing your window shades or blinds. You can save yourself a lot of irritation if you make a good choice in the first place.
